TMYP has been in existence since March 2003 and has produced many very successful shows. Other recent appearances include “The Number One Christmas Show” at Weston Playhouse, Nailsea Carnival, Singing at the Mall, Cribbs Causeway  Nailsea Beer Festival, Maypole Dancing at the Nailsea Arts Festival and GWR’s ‘Thriller” video.

We are constantly on the lookout for new projects to widen the experience of our very enthusiastic members. This has led to the introduction of a Tingill Summer Theatre Academy and also the opportunity for Tingill members to record their own cds in a professional studio. We also organise workshops led by professionals in their fields to further enrich the experience of the students.

Tingill Musical Youth Productions is divided into three sections according to age, All children have the opportunity to perform in two shows every year, one at Backwell School Theatre and one at Backwell Playhouse.

Tingill Infants - for children aged 4 – 7 years. The children take part in fun, group based activities centered around our core subjects, singing, dancing and drama. They learn many social skills as well as creative and performance skills.

Tingill Juniors – for children aged 7 – 10 years. Singing, dancing and drama are covered in all rehearsal sessions. Rehearsals mainly focus on working towards one of the two yearly productions. During the weeks after a show is finished we introduce workshops to improve on existing skills.

Tingill Seniors – for students aged 10 – 17 years. The rehearsals leading up to the two shows a year will centre around preparation for these, working on singing, dancing and drama, all of which will be incorporated into the performances. At other times, i.e. when the show is finished, the students work on improving their performance skills through workshops and small group activities.

Tingill classes are led by three members of staff, each with considerable teaching experience covering all ages. All members of staff have performed professionally at top theatres across the country and still work regularly within the industry. We are also very lucky to have on board a strong team of volunteer helpers whose support and dedication has proved invaluable.

Entry to Tingill is by informal audition where students will be asked to demonstrate some singing, dancing and drama skills. The auditions are usually held each term depending on the number of spaces available - more info
